What is the difference between SPC and WPC in vinyl plank or vinyl tile?

Both are durable and stable, however SPC is more durable and dense overall due to its limestone composition. Both work well in commercial interior spaces.

 

WPC consists of a rigid core layer that is thicker and lighter than the SPC core. It is softer underfoot, which makes it comfortable to stand or walk on for longer periods of time. Its thickness can give it a warmer feel and it is good at absorbing sound.

 

SPC consists of a rigid core layer that’s thinner and more compact and dense than WPC. This compactness makes it less likely to expand or contract during extreme temperature swings, which can improve the stability and longevity of your flooring. It’s also more durable when it comes to impact.

Can I install hardwood flooring in my basement of any other below grade space?

Yes, you can install hardwood in a basement, as long as there is not a water nor moisture issue. ... If your basement is below grade (i.e. beneath the ground), then you need to use an engineered hardwood (rather than solid hardwood).

Is vinyl flooring good for wheelchairs or office chairs?

Wheelchairs and office chairs need a smooth, flat, and solid surfaced flooring to be able to roll on and traverse smoothly. Not all flooring types and options will work well with them and choosing the wrong floor may limit their movements, or it could wear faster and get damaged with the frequent use. Self-adhesive or the glue-down luxury vinyl flooring type will work well with heavy rolling traffic however, snap-together or interlocking vinyl floors will sometimes break apart when rolled on.

Can I install new floor over my existing floor?

Yes, you can install over an existing wood floor, provided it meets some important conditions. ... You'll want to carefully inspect the existing flooring and repair, replace or re-fasten loose or damaged flooring, as any loose areas or voids will allow movement in the new floor, which causes squeaks.

Can I repair my vinyl and laminate flooring?

Minor scratches and imperfections can easily be fixed with liquid seam sealer or a vinyl repair kit sold at any home improvement store. You can fix minor chips and scratches in a laminate floor with filler products. But if the damage is severe, you have to replace the planks.

What kind of flooring should I use if I have pets?

Vinyl flooring is a popular flooring option for families with pets. Luxury vinyl tile and vinyl sheet are highly durable, long-lasting, and resistant to moisture, scratches and dents. They are also easy to maintain. Vinyl tile is easy to clean, easy to install and affordable.

Does vinyl plank flooring need to be acclimated?

Acclimation is essential with vinyl because the vinyl plank flooring will experience some contractions and expansions with changes in temperature and humidity levels of the environment.

Where can I install laminate flooring?

One of the great benefits of laminate flooring is it can be installed over any surface, including vinyl, concrete, ceramic, and plywood. That's the subfloor. Before you start your installation, free your space from obstructions such as staples, nails, dust, and debris. Be sure to install HUSSSH underpad prior to installing your laminate.

What is the Janka Scale and how does it relate to hardwood flooring?

The Janka Scale measures the denting and wear resistance of a wood sample. It measures the force required to embed an 11.28-mm (0.444”) steel ball to half its diameter into a wood plank. A good Janka rating for wood flooring is generally anything that is 1,000 lbs. and the industry mean is around 1,200 lbs.
